the 7.2 effort has nothing to do with this.. Ubuntu has traditionally had separate packages for every component (just not xon ;), where Debian has bundled them (like xbase-clients). We need to work with them to sort this out. For instance, the xutils in Debian has sessreg and luit which are separate packages in Ubuntu. Maybe it would be enough just to drop our versions and sync xutils, but we'll see..
