Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gparted

When I want to start gparted nothing happens.
When I start it via the command line (with or without sudo, doesn't matter), I
get this error:

hal-lock: symbol lookup error: hal-lock: undefined symbol:
libhal_acquire_global_interface_loc

My hal version is 0.5.12~rc1+git20090403-0ubuntu4
My gparted version is 0.4.3-0ubuntu1

According to the update manager these are the latest versions. I am using
Ubuntu 9.04 "Jaunty".
I cannot use the bug report methods listed everywhere because the application
stops before I can do something.

I expect to happen: gpated starts and works.
What happened instead: nothing, on the console it prints the error message
listed above.

** Affects: gparted (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
