Hello, I managed to get the wireless work in my Fujitsu Siemens laptop. (see my prev. message above). The Atheros wifi driver is loaded and ok, but the hardware is simply switched off, and the hotkey button (to switch it on) is not enabled.
So I downloaded source code for the acerhk hoykey driver and managed to compile it in Karmic. I was then able switch the wifi on with Fn + ((o)) hotkey. I had to fix and hack the source to get it compiled and not all features work right. Anyway, the wireless is now ON and functional. Later I discovered that Ubutnu's repository has a patched and updated "acerhk-source" package. See $ apt-cache search acerhk-source It installs acerhk source to /usr/src/ directory which you can then unpack and compile. Unfortunately the compilation failed with error: make[2]: *** No rule to make target `kernel/bounds.c', needed by `kernel/bounds.s'. Stop. make[1]: *** [prepare0] Error 2 See this bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acerhk/+bug/456123 ---- -- atheros wifi not working with kernel 2.6.31-1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/395565 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
