Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
So here's my scenario: Multiple *.avi files are being copied over to an 8GB USB stick. a) If I select all files from the source, copy, and then paste into the nautilus view for the USB drive, everything is processed sequentially. Time to completion roughly around 10 minutes b) If instead I try to copy over each file individually (say I start to copy one file, then go back to the source folder, and copy over another file), things are horribly slow. I get the (fancy and cool, btw!) file operation dialog for each file...unfortunately, the time it now takes has been multiplied incrementally (we're talking hours now). It seems like copies are being made in parallel and things slow down. Now, I'm not sure what causes this. Could it be a limitation of the USB controller or something? I haven't tried replacing the USB drive in the above scenario, with say another internal hard disk, but I suspect its still affected. Sorry for the not so technical bug report; if you need further details please let me know!
