I had the same problem with /var/logs/cups - setting cups to debug2 didn't work, cups did not restart. in debug mode it wouldn't record any error. The printer just freezes, by the way, it's every time now, I can't print from my computer. I tried plugging my printer into different usb plugs, but none work, - probably because I only have usb 2.0 plugs. Lucas working usb plug might be an usb 1.1 plug? Could that be the reason?
