Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 9.10 beta [Live DVD]
----------------------------------------
no sound available (System sounds, Amarok, ...).
Yesterday (not today) additional message 'pulse audio not running' appeared.
System Settings = use KDE-SoundSystem. Testing sounds of the system messages
produces no sound at all, not even a crack.
Tried to fill in 'pulse audio' as an external player - without success.
Button 'Test' in 'Signal sound instead of system messages' failing, too.
