Further to my above comment this is not an issue in karmic - I was
seeing a problem with LEAP only on karmic (am writing now from a wpa2
connection on Kubuntu karmic using a passphrase with the following chars
in it: -_@&$+

wpasupplicant doesn not accept '$' and '@' as valid characters in the password.
