Binary package hint: apport
This may be a duplicate of bug 442249, although I am using apport-kde,
not apport-gtk. Also, I have some additional information - I don't know
if it was the case with bug 442249.
The apport window never finishes the stage of "collecting information", the
progress indicator keeps going back and forth. I found the PID of the gdb
process launched by apport and did 'cat /proc/<PID>/cmdline' to find out the
arguments. They were as follows:

So, I took the core file /tmp/tmpx03Lla and tried to run gdb on this
file manually. It produced the following output:

I am not sure why the core file was truncated; I suspect that the core
file was generated before the upgrade - which may have affected kontact
binary. However, the gdb appears to be hung, cannot be terminated by ^C,
but exits on SIGTERM.
Also, if I click 'Cancel' on the apport's window, the window is closed,
but the gdb process is left behind and must be killed manually.
Otherwise, gdb continues to consume 100% CPU time.
