Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution
On a clean install of 32 bit Ubuntu karmic beta updated through 14 October, 2009, Evolution does not remember resizing its view settings. Using 1680 x 1050 resolution. Steps to reproduce: Open Evolution, click to make window full screen. Click View > Preview > "Show message preview" is checked and select "Vertical View". Arrange the sizes of the areas to your preference. The Inbox on the left side is made a little wider, the messages area has to be made much wider, making the message preview area smaller. If you minimize and then maximze the window, all is as it should be. If you close Evolution and reopen it, it will remember the size of the inbox area, but the messages area is back to too narrow to read and must be resized again. This behaviour persists every time Evolution is closed and restarted. Expected behaviour is to have the application remember resized display areas when application is restarted. What happened instead is the sizes of some display areas are reset to (too small) default settings on application restart. I have attached 2 screen shots to demonstrate the bug.
