Thanks for the network trace. Notable differences between this trace and a cifs mount trace to a recent version of Samba, in the negprot_response:
SHARE security mode vs. USER security mode capabilities field of 0x0080f3fd vs. 0x008023fd, which means the server doesn't support large read/write or dfs. The server in the trace also doesn't support the QUERY_FS_INFO Device Info call, and indicates no support for case sensitive searching in the response to QUERY_FS_INFO Attribute Info.
