Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I installed the karmic beta in a VM using 'Install Ubuntu' rather than
'Try Ubuntu'.

The resulting installation lacked an /etc/fstab file, which I discovered
when trying to mount a CD iso and it wouldn't automount. I created the
fstab file and added an entry for /dev/scd0, which fixed the issue.
(Having said that, my main distribution lacks an entry for /dev/scd0 and
it still mounts CDs. Perhaps the problem was that fstab didn't exist at
all?)
