Why do you think that the driver for i2400m present in Ubuntu Hardy? I
search packages with driver file for i2400m at
http://packages.ubuntu.com without any result.
It seems that Ubuntu is completely lack of WiMax support.

The i2400m WiMAX driver module was present in Hardy, gone in Intrepid and
Jaunty, returning in Karmic.
