Are you kidding? Ubuntu developers and I suppose Linux developers in general apparently don't really care about these little bugs that turn out to be huge usability stumbling blocks, just like they'd rather stick to a cumbersome form of software management that really only works well if you follow the exact guidelines set out for you rather than wanting to doing something like, oh, I don't know, updating to the latest version of a program before the next distribution is released.
Face it, Windows and Mac may be broken in a variety of ways, but simple crap like this that prevents people from getting their work done, or makes them have to work harder to get their work done, would just never fly.
