Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apport
During an ongoing Ekiga phone call I pulled the USB plug of my web cam with an integrated microphone. I obtained the message: "Your system encountered a serious kenel problem. Your system might become unstable and might need to be restarted. You can help developers to fix the problem by reporting it." I called Apport but Apport would not stop collecting data. I tried to start another instance of Apport. But upon commanding that, another instance of Apport would not start. Thus I reluctantly terminated Apport. I suspect that the error state of my machine could not be documented for a review by knowledgeable people. '~$ uname -a; Linux T43 2.6.31-13-generic #43-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 9 17:42:36 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux' '~$ apt-cache policy apport apport: Installed: 1.9.2-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 1.9.2-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 1.9.2-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status' I expected to happen that Apport collects data in a limited time. Instead, Apport did not stop collecting data and I had to force quit it.
