I don't know whether or not it is related, but I happen to be having
trouble with the device in question; Network Manager usually fails to
list any networks, and on the rare occasion that it does, it lists only
my neighbor's network. Since switching to Karmic my home network has
never shown up -- write now I am connected to the internet via an
ethernet connection to my netbook which is in turn connected to my home
