I don't think downgrading to Hardy is the solution, to be honest. If the
maintainers of the repositories would be so kind as to keep "legacy"
version of libgphoto (and ALL Ubuntu software, while they're at it)
available for people to force the version they need, that would be the
solution. Where are the older versions? If someone would be so kind as
to point us to them, I'm sure we could confirm or deny very rapidly what
the problem is.

Mind you, there might very well be dependency problems if we force
install a two-year-old version of libgphoto, so maybe the devs can give
us a tip or two with that as well. Thanks.
