** Description changed: Hi, I'm using jaunty with kde 4.2.4, the new kernel (2.6.30-020630rc6) and the updated x-server. The xserver-xorg.video-intel package has version :2:2.8.0+git20090814.926c7e7d-0ubuntu0sarvatt~jaunty For the last 3 weeks my PC completely freezes (no movement in the animations, mouse can't be moved, does not react to any keyboard-combination), whenever I try to use desktop effects. I followed instructions on gaining info for intel freezes here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze and will attach the output. However the instructions are for gnome and there was no kdm folder, so I have no kdm.log. The freeze for the dri_debug info was provoked by switching through windows. The PC does not freeze on desktop-effects when I use the 2.6.28-14 kernel. I also get random freezes with both kernels on that machine, which look a lot like the bug reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- intel/+bug/345119 If you need any further information please let me know.
