Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pm-utils
On the MSI Wind U100, if brightness is adjusted with either the brightness function keys or Ubuntu itself it gets itself stuck in a continuous loop whereby the brightness applet(? - the pop up window) stays continuously on the screen, and the brightness level toggles between the current setting and the next brightness setting up (e.g. say 10% and 20% or 50% and 60% etc). This also results in the brightness of the screen actually continuously changing as well, making it very difficult to use. This also occurs at startup, so from boot time onwards the brightness of the backlight for the screen is flashing constantly. A work around at the moment, is to set the brightness level in the System-Preferences-Power Management to the lowest level. This stops the screen from flashing continuously (unless you try and adjust the screen brightness). Thankfully the lowest level on the Wind is quite usable in most lighting conditions.
