@citizenofnowhere: I upgraded to bios 1.28 to fix the issue of the cdrom not being detected when pressing the eject button. Unfortunately I heard one other report of a user that downgraded back to 1.10 and bricked his lappy. That is one too many reports for me to attempt to do a downgrade.
kUbuntu 9.04 Live-CD: Brightness keys work as they are supposed to. No notification comes up, but the screen does dim properly. I didn't know where to find the power applet to see if the sliders worked. Ubuntu 9.04 Live-CD: Brightness keys work as they are supposed to. Notification DOES come up and the screen dims at appropriate levels. Brightness sliders do not work in Power Manager or Brightness Applet. With Visual Effects set to "Normal" or "Extra" everything acts the same. Brightness keys work, notification, sliders do not work. Ubuntu 9.10 Beta Live-CD: Same issues as I posted for this bug. System freezes when adjusting brightness if Visual Effects are set to "Normal" or "Extra". Brightness slider applets do not work.
