What's the relation between the two videos posted in this bug report?

Regarding the second video, which actually shows notify-osd, that's
showing a very old version of notify-osd without the blur-cache. The
throbbing (glowing) effect for overshooting the volume-setting is
improved in the upstream and karmic version of notify-osd, due to the
blur-cache. Please update to a more current version (notify-osd 0.9.23)
either via synaptic or if you are comfortable with it via bzr and
compiling notify-osd trunk yourself.
