This is really interesting though. That hack implies that xkb-data-legacy provides everything X need to work properly. Does this mean xkeyboard-config package is broken somehow or what? (and I respectfully disagree with Sebastian - it is still 2 months till feisty, and this bug is visible to _everyone_ trying to add new layout to the keyboard configuration).
