*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 84776 *** I used aptitude. A number of updates were run, including a new version of dpkg. No longer had a problem with update-manger. Ran update-manager, it rand updates successfully.
Ran it again today. It crashed. Actually, gnome-panel crashed. Restarted Ubuntu. Ran aptitude, it updated successfully. Will leave well enough alone for now. Actually, prefer apt-get / synaptic or aptitude. They seem to crash less and avoid misinformation. Every time I start Update-Manager, it says my system is update, but when I run Check, it shows that it isn't.
