Thanks for the update on this. A friendlier time-out notification might avoid confusion on this. I have no issue with the daemon disappearing when a requesting application is unreasonably idle, but barring a modification to the aptd queueing/monitoring system, there should be some better form of notification to the user (via explicit dbus event perhaps?)
