In my case the icons are drawn, albeit wrong ones, yet they aren't functional at all. In any case, I haven't seen this happen on my laptop in the last few days, and I do restart or log off and on quite a lot during the day... So if the bug won't reappear over the course of the next few days, I will updates it's status here and on gnome as invalid or not reproducible. I will keep you posted :)
