It is because the ~/.xinput.d/en_US link. Since my home directory is made under jaunty, the link pointed to scim-bridge which is not installed defaultly in karmic. It seems that language-selector can't handle this situation automatically. After unlinking ~/.xinput.d/en_US manually, the language-selector create a new link pointed to /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/ibus.
