Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

On two occasions I noticed the input volume is set too low. The slider
knob is set to the left of the tick mark on the Sound Preferences Input
tab. I have to move the knob to the right of the tick mark to be able to
record from the Sound Recorder. I think the default setting is too low
