Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal
Installing Karmic Koala Beta on hardware without a functional system clock is not possible. I briefly see an error message about hal time sync (or similar!) and then the whole computer hangs. This is from the live CD, trying to build a laptop with a new hard-drive. Compaq Evo n610c - compaq DO NOT have a BIOS ability to set the clock - so no install is possible. This is the only distro I have tried which fails to boot on this hardware. Only way to fix this (I know of) is to fix the clock, install a different OS to set the time, then install Karmic. Would be simpler if it just asked for the date :-) ** Affects: hal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- invalid date time prevents system boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/441129 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
