Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apt

This might not be a bug. Forgive me if I'm erroneously reporting it.
I've got Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft installed on my machine (with the latest
updates). I've installed vsftpd using the console "apt-get install vsftpd"
command. It installed fine the first time but I've somehow messed up
/etc/vsftpd.conf so I've decided to reinstall (Windows habit). I've run
"apt-get remove vsftpd" and deleted /etc/vsftpd.conf. This second time
/etc/vsftpd.conf isn't created anymore. I've tried dpkg-reconfigure vsftpd.
Didn't work. I've tried deleting the ftp user this installation created the
first time but now it doesn't even recreate that user. I've encountered similar
problems when trying to install the apache tomcat server so I've concluded it
must be an apt related problem. I must also mention that after deleting the
/etc/init.d/vsftpd script it also doesn't get recreated but apt-get reports the
server is started.

Maybe I should have reported this on a more general Debian bug list but
somehow you guys at Ubuntu make things a lot easier for everyone. Especially
noobs. Thanks. Keep up this fantastic work. Bug #1 will be squashed.
