No, I think you misunderstood, the drive works perfectly with Jaunty. It only has problems under Karmic. In fact a gnome-vfs crash just occurred and apport generated an automatic bug report with all kinds of trace data. It's bug #440427. Hopefully you can look at the data and see what happened.
