Same bug here. Linux ***-laptop 2.6.31-11-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 25 06:37:51 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux . Latest updates installed, Brasero, K3b, Gnomebaker do not see my DVD-writing device. This is a real pain in the ass as i need to reinstall my system.
