The hw eject button not working is bug 397734. I heared several reports about DVDs not mounting properly, so if Daniel says it's fixed in 2.6.32-rc1, I think it's a kernel bug. DK-disks does not do anythign about accessing the contents of DVDs, it just detects their file systems and triggers GNOME to mount them.
