powersaved is another process that eats up RAM. Currently, to get my machine into usable state, I do the following:
$ sudo /etc/init.d/powersaved stop $ sudo /etc/init.d/ivman stop After this, hald still uses a lot of CPU cycles, but at least my RAM isn't consumed.
