I'm currently trying to reproduce this on my system (using mail- notification this time). Initially I tried it with forcing just a fallback-dialog (using notify-osd-trunk/tests/test-modules -p /libnotify/test_withlib_actions), but that didn't trigger anything while I executed notify-osd under gdb and valgrind.
