@stuchy: Have you tried what I suggested before in this thread about suspending to RAM and restore? I've got a Toshiba laptop too, and my only workaround currently is to suspend at least once in order to get the cpu fan to work normally after restoring. I reboot ocassionally, and only if necessary (eg after kernel upgrade).
