Taking the build from above and applying the latest updates renders the desktop unusable. The gdm login screen is displayed, but the gnome desktop is never displayed (system hangs after login sound; Ubuntu "spotlight" screen never goes away.
I will try re-installing with the latest daily builds of Karmic Netbook Remix to see if the experience is different. If the Gnome Desktop works, but the network adapter is still not working with network manager, I will try installing a Mainline kernel build and see if the experience differs.
