Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: humanity-icon-theme

The new monochrome icon for nm-applet uses the *same* icon for a wired
connection and a VPN connection overlay. Therefore on one hand, when VPN
is established through a wired connection, it is not noticeable; on the
other hand when VPN is used through a wireless connection, the icon
merged from "wired" and "wireless" icons is confusing (as seen in the
attached screenshot).

Using a monochrome "lock" icon overlay at the top-left corner maybe can
better serve the purpose of indicating the information.
