Please follow these steps: Read where it says "Changing the Boot Option Configuration Line" so as to boot the live cd with a custom option https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions#Changing the Boot Option Configuration Line and add the following options instead of the one in the example (which is vga=771): hpet=force i8042.nopnp if this doesn't work, try the following options: i8042.reset i8042.nomux i8042.nopnp i8042.noloop Let me know if it solves the problem -- touchpad does not work after upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/417084 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: After the upgrade from 7.10, where my synaptics touchpad was automatically recognized, to 8.04 (online) my touchpad stopped working. When clicking on GSynaptics I get that I should set "SHMConfig" to "true" in xorg.conf, which I have done, but that does not help. "synclient -l" gives the the answer that I don't have access to shared memory and asks whether SHMConfig is disabled. I have added the *.fdi file according to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad#shmconfig, but nothing seems to help. laptop: bios-version:NOTE BIOS Version /358A1200 system-manufacturer:NEC Computers International system-product-name:VERSA P520 system-version:NN671799905 uname: Linux *pcname* 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux version signature: Ubuntu 2.6.24-16.30-generic -- touchpad does not work after upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/417084 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
