Looks that the problem still exists. I have a Toshiba A100 with an
ALC861 and recording only works during live session (with Jaunty and
Karmic) but not after installation. And because audio settings have
completely changed in Karmic, the workaround described above cannot be
applied. Can PulseAudio even be uninstalled as easy as in Jaunty? It
seems to be deeply integrated in Karmic...
