I apologize for such a long daley, but the problem still exists with Karmic Alpha 6. Results are the same as post #4, above and attached are dmesg, /proc/cmdline and /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume. following the directions listed here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend, yielded no new information to me, but line 513 of dmesg says "PM: Resume from disk failed". This copy of dmesg is named dmesg-debug and is also attached. After the debug steps, gnome had a bug report to file, which I filed and should be added to this thread.
