Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Karmic's Pulseaudio frequently locks up, consuming 100% CPU, and fails
to respond to SIGTERM signals.

When this occurs, the Gnome desktop largely seems to lock-up (I usually
can't access gnome-terminals at all).

I end up having to kill -9 the process.

Unclear on what to do to further debug this, but it's a severe bug that
usually hits me several times a day, and has no obvious workarounds
unless you know how to use 'kill'. Since it does happen frequently
though, I'd be happy to try to extract more information if someone
provides some instructions...

I've been seeing this issue frequently in both 1:0.9.18-0ubuntu2 from
karmic, as well as the ubuntu audio dev PPA.
