@Tim - re comment #145: Thanks for that: "You can gain access remotely by SSH'ing to the device and running: DISPLAY=:0 metacity --replace &"
That works. However there is a problem when switching the target machine back to compiz. I have three workspaces on the target & switch it back using: DISPLAY=:0 compiz --replace & Window Switcher defaults to only 2 workspaces. Checking preferences on WS on the target machine still shows 3 workspaces, but only 2 are available. The only way to get it back to three (as far as I can figure out) is for the target to use System|Preferences|Appearance|None then Extra. Following that the original 3 workspaces are restored. Any suggestions on what to change in 'DISPLAY=:0 compiz --replace &' to restore the original number of workspaces? -- Compiz / vnc screen refresh with nvidia-restricted driver/VirtualBox/ATI fglrx driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/353126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
