Rustle, thank God you wrote so expressively about this! I had no idea what to even call this interface design-flaw. But your description was articulate enough that I could find this page via a search string in Google. Ah! some netbooks have enough screen resolution that we don't need auto-maximization...indeed, the idea for me (a social theorist) was to economize my learning-curve time by having my interface as similar to a big-screen interface as possible. For those of us who are NOT Linux whiz-kids, the time-cost of learning a new interface is the highest cost involved. Robert Dolby once said: "All my tubes and wires...have a look! She's tidied up, and now I can't find anything!"
I would rather have the option--the readily locatable option--of disabling all the conveniences so that I can get back to my not-so- absolutely-optimal way of using my screen. My GUI! My GUI! Icky-sticky, but mine! It might help if UNR installs with some sort of a ReadMe announcement that gives us a listing of the interface differences and what they are called. -- ALL application windows only open in full-screen mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/362301 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
