Public bug reported: I have a wretched MythTV box which was originally built with a 32 bit version. As the motherboard I used didn't work with MythTV I swapped it out for a new 64 bit Asus M3N78-VM. Sadly MythTV still doesn't work due to numerous bugs which I have now given up trying to fix as life is simply too short.
So... the last thing I decided to try was to start again by doing a fresh install using a freshly downloaded MythTV 64 bit CD. But this will not boot. I then tried my Ubuntu 64 bit CD which I used recently to build a desktop machine. This too does not boot. In both cases the boot process drops to busybox and displays the following error messages: ATA3: Failed to set transfer mode (err_mask=0x40) ATA3: Failed to enable ATAPI AN (err_mask=0x4) The machine in question is: Motherboard: Asus M3N78-VM CPU: AMD Athlon X2 5200 RAM: Kingston 2Gb Hard Drive: Samsung 1Tb SATA DVD: Samsung SATA ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: I have a wretched MythTV box which was originally built with a 32 bit version.
