I experienced something similar after installing alpha 6. I tried to connect to a WPA Wireless network with hidden ssid (entered ssid and WPA Passphrase), then it showed as if it was connected but when I clicked on the icon it crashed. Later I tried starting nm-applet from the console, and did the same steps as above (connecting to hidden WPA network) and then I saw the crash report in the console (segmentation fault). I attach the crash report.
