There seems to be mixed results on whether Alpha 6 has corrected the problem or not. There is a duplicate bug for this, whose thread states Alpha 6 has fixed the problem, but for my system it does not seem to have been corrected.
Under Alpha 5 I had problems where I would be kicked back to the login after typing in my password. Now with Alpha 6 I currently get a blank black screen after trying to login to gnome. I can successfully login to the xterm session.
