There seems to be mixed results on whether Alpha 6 has corrected the problem or
not.
There is a duplicate bug for this, whose thread states Alpha 6 has fixed the
problem, but for my system it does not seem to have been corrected.

Under Alpha 5 I had problems where I would be kicked back to the login
after typing in my password. Now with Alpha 6 I currently get a blank
black screen after trying to login to gnome. I can successfully login
to the xterm session.

My system is:
Computer Model: Dell Studio 1536
Video Card: ATI technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series, 4GB
Subsystem: Dell Device 0255
Operating System: Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 Alpha 6 (AMD64)
CPU: AMD Turion X2 Ultra-Core Mobile ZM-80

Let me know if I can provide any additional information to help track
down this issue.
