** Description changed: Binary package hint: network-manager Update yesterday to Karmic caused DHCP wired network to not auto configure. Searched daemon.log to find: Sep 16 10:24:59 pharper-laptop NetworkManager: <info> Marking connection 'Auto eth0' invalid. Sep 16 10:24:59 pharper-laptop NetworkManager: <info> Activation (eth0) failed. Sep 16 10:24:59 pharper-laptop NetworkManager: <info> Activation (eth0) Stage 4 of 5 (IP6 Configure Timeout) complete. Set IP6 to 'ignore' and NetworkManager was able to configure IP4 on the interface. I don't know if this was a simple configuration reset caused by the update or whether the underlying code now aborts if IP6 is not supported on the network. $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch) Release: 9.10 - apt-cache policy network-manager + + $ apt-cache policy network-manager network-manager: Installed: 0.8~a~git.20090911t130220.4c77fa0-0ubuntu5 Candidate: 0.8~a~git.20090911t130220.4c77fa0-0ubuntu5 Version table: *** 0.8~a~git.20090911t130220.4c77fa0-0ubuntu5 0 500 http://ubuntu.osuosl.org karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
