  not sure if the cause was connecting to MSN or Google Talk(Jabber? I
  think) I had just enabled MSN and then just finished configuring Google
  Talk before it crashed. No confirmation(no contacts were showing from
  MSN/Google in the main window.. just the IRC chatrooms I was in at the
