I have the same (or similar problem): yesterday evening/late night (CEST) I upgrade the system, just before the shoutdown.
This evening I restart the system, but the X System doesn't start anymore. >From console I made a apt-get dist-upgrade and after reboot nothing change. After a while a can find this bug report.... I made as suggested sudo start dbus sudo start hal sudo start network-manager sudo start gdm When I login on gdm I get a lot of error: all related to creating files ... I stop gdm, and I notice that I'm not log in in my home but on the system root: that is no partition but the / was mounted (my /home is a separate partition). Then I logout as user and login as root and made mount -a and then -- dbus fails to start on clean boot using upstart job https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/430611 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
