Note: as detailed in the problem report, I'm currently using kernel
2.6.31-9-generic i686, due to an unrelated issue with the hostap package
not initializing a wireless card in this system under 2.6.31-10-generic
i686. This may not be a legitimate bug under 2.6.31-10-generic i686
(but I have not tested)
