Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Acer 3810T laptop
Ubuntu Karmic alpha 5.
gnome-power-manager 2.27.92

The gnome-power-manager panel applet doesn't show the current battery
state.

Example:

 1. Boot laptop with AC connected
 2. Panel applet correctly shows charging state and current charge level
 3. Disconnect AC
 4. Status of applet doesn't change
 5. Re-connect AC
 6. Applet changes to discharging (not on AC)

Note: the power level doesn't seem to update as time progresses in
either AC connection state.

stua...@stu-acer:~$ acpi -a -b
Battery 0: Discharging, 91%, 04:03:18 remaining
Adapter 0: off-line

That command correctly reflects the current battery state at all times.

stua...@stu-acer:~$ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state
present: yes
capacity state: ok
charging state: discharging
present rate: 1245 mA
remaining capacity: 4846 mAh
present voltage: 12240 mV

The contents of this file always seems to be correct too.

** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
